recently i have met a problem of internet connection. i just changed to use my senior PC, but i now can't connect to the internet through the connection i made by XP. strange things is simply create a connection then can connect on other PC.
situation:
after i create a connection, set number to dial to *99#, and disable IP header compression. then when i connect it, always failed at "Registering your computer on the network". so then Error is: Error 720, A connection to the remote computer could not be established.
I hunted for months for a solution to this problem RAS error code 720.
I have a Thinkpad T60 and about six months ago was suddenly unable to use my Vodafone Vodem so I tried my old Vodafone card modem and it wouldn't work either. Even tried my Sony phone with a cable and it wouldn't work. When I've travelled for the last six months I have had to take my old T42 with me and all the modems work fine with that laptop.
I have tried many solutions to this and wasted countless hours.
Today I finally found a tiny free program called rarepair.exe - do a search and you can easily find it but I got it from here
Click on it and it removes all your network drivers, reboots your machine, reinstalls the drivers and then does a second reboot.
Everything was restored perfectly. I would have paid serious money for this as it has saved me from doing a fresh XP install which would have taken weeks to get everything reinstalled.
Please copy this to any sites you have visited while trying to find a solution.
Microsoft couldn't fix this problem - or pretended it didn't exist. Lenovo are in denial that it exists.
The person who wrote this little program is a hero!

Are you serious????
This problem has *nothing* to do with firewall settings - it's a network driver issue.
Turning off your firewall could expose your computer to an avalanche of online threats if you forget to turn it back on again once you have fixed the drivers. Then you would waste even more time fiddling with your computer because of this stupid and (as usual) obscure M$ network fault!
i have recently come across error 720 when trying access my internet, was baffled at what it meant or how to get rid..... some one told me to click on start .. then run ...and enter this into the box netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt worked perfectly!!!!
I just want to say that I downloaded that link that Harvest posted and I'm amazed how quicky it repaired the problem, I had spent all day trying to fix this computer and just couldn't find the answer now in less than 5 mins it's working perfectly and now I have internet access on my laptop.
It's a genius solution , the tiny "rarepair" is so powerful.
I was able to solve the problem of error 720 in my new Lenovo laptop in 5 minutes
Thank You Harvest
Hani
Can't get my hands down. The program Microsoft Remote Access Repair Tool dit it for me - and for which Harvest (thank you so much for posting) posted a direct download link.
I had an 'Error 720' with a mobile modem, and only after weeks of (admittedtly intermittent) search for a solution, including several calls to the tech support department of the mobile carrier, did I arrive at this page.
Here's the link to the actual post at Practicallynetworked com, from where Harvest found the solution. Credit goes to Maxgle - well, actually he had found it somewhere else :=)). Isn't the Net wonderfull..
