11x Mulitiplier 291bus speed 1164 fsb, 3200mhz

or

8x Mulitiplier 400bus speed 1600mhz, 3200mhz runnin the ram at 800 1:1

which one has better performance?

and which one would create more heat?

That depends on the motherboard cooling. Some times for highs FSBs you may need to increase Northbridge voltages, in turn creating a lot of heat. Also high FSB puts quite a bit of strain on the Northbridge as well. Providing you have a good Northbridge cooler and don't have to increase voltages option 2 would make sense.

According to Anandtech, they stated that there is no difference between the multipliers and their respective FSB. Synthetic memory tests does show an increase, but as far as gaming is concerned, I don't think there's any.

With that, for gamers, I think you should use the highest possible multiplier to reduce heat from the motherboard and prolong the life. I'm not sure for other programs.

Well yes that is true, but if you are going for a high FSB you shouldn't be using a crappy mobo :)

He didn't say anything about real-wolrd performance :hello:
