Hey guys, i built my current system christmas of 2006, and its served me pretty well with the exception of the mobo. I'm not entirely sure why but the northbridge runs extremely hot, typically 5-8C over CPU temp at load. I know now that its an issue with this specific mobo as my roommate built his system using literally the exact same components (praetorian 730 case, same mobo, e6600 proc, etc, same case fans, cooling, etc) and his comp runs typically 3-5C less than mine CPU temp, and 10-15c less on northbridge temp.

Regardless i want to upgrade the mobo, will keep all the same components, possibly get a new heatsink, not sure on that. My goal is to get a more stable system.

Currently i am considering the Asus Maximus Formula. Will this give me good upgradeability in the future? I'm not especially concerned about DDR3, mainly being able to use the newest C2D's.

Appreciate everything guys.

Edit: Forgot to ask also if you guys feel that it would be worth it to just suck it up for a few months until the x48 boards are more prevalent?
