I think i might have a possible problem with my GPU, its an Nvdia 7600GT , Basically i cannot boot to desktop, when i turn my pc on it gets to the loading stage the screen has verticle lines running down it and then wierd pixles, blue, and then the screen goes black and the 'no signal' appears. A couple of days ago i first noticed the beginning of the problem while playing the Witcher pc game, the screen froze and the same blue dots/lines appeared, I can however boot to windows in safe mode. I have windows xp. Can anyone advise as to what might be the problem?, oh i have cleaned the fans, re slotted the video card and checked the monitor connections. Any help would be appreciated,

I'm no expert but if you can boot into safe mode, then it sounds like a driver issue. But the dots and stuff sound like artifacts, so again I'm not sure. is the 7600 overclocked? if so that may explain why safe mode doesn't have the artifacts as it skips that kind of thing and the card would be forced to run stock.

I have just managed to boot to windows (not in safe mode) and i can only do this if i have installed an older GPU driver than my prevoius one , otherwise i cannot get into windows. It is strange that i do not get the road track horizontal lines when i am in , this seems to only happen when trying to boot. Then it wanted me to install new hardware, my video controller which seems strange, I tried the wizrd add new hardware with the cd that came with my card and then it crashed, i have been gone through this process a number of times now, any advice appreciated.
