i`m going to build a new system in the next month as my own is aging....

i`m comsidering this :

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750
CORSAIR- Dual Channel 2GB - 800-(2x1GB)
GIGABYTE - P35-DS3L
Western Digital - SATA 2 - 500GB +
XFX 8800gt 512MB XXX
Liteon DVD-ROM 16x
Sony DVD-RW 16x

the question is how much power do i NEED to get this babe going?(i`m thinking GREEN - GP480A (480w))

tnx

p.s any suggestions on the build (im having second thoughs on the MB,is XFX nForce 650i Ultra MCP as good as the p35?)

The P35 is better for Single GPU systems.
The P35 will likely have better Penryn support.
It will also likely OC better.

The 650i will support SLI so if that is your potential end goal that may be better.

The Corair 450w PSU is plenty for this system.

The DS3L will only support 4 SATA devices. With one disk and 2 opticals you are already close to the limit. I'd get a GA-P35-DS3R instead (it allows 8 devices).

The 750GB disk (WD7500AAKS) is faster than the 500GB.

I wouldn't buy a MB based on 650i these days, it's too old. Are you thinking of SLI, i.e. buying another 8800GT later? You have to decide now, because 8800GT SLI needs a more powerful PSU and a SLI-capable MB and a case with serious cooling.

Some high-quality PSUs that can handle even two 8800GT cards: PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610W, Corsair 620HX.
For a single card and no SLI plans: Corsair 520HX would be great, or Antec Earthwatts 500W.

Are you sure you need a DVD reader? Either ditch it or make it a burner. The price difference is negligible, it might as well be a burner. I don't like Sony. Samsung SH-S203B or Asus DRW-1814BLT are good burners.

About the 8800GT: it comes with a single-slot cooler, which is a bad idea IMO. There are quieter and cooler cards with similar performance and dual-slot coolers, like 8800 GTS G92 512 MB (a bit faster than the 8800GT) or HD 3870 (a bit slower than the 8800GT).

i wouldnt be using more than 4 satas so it`s useless for me, and im not gonna be sliing (not in the next 1~2 years) so p35 wins ,its just that it would cost some 30$ more than the 650i.and the dvd rom and rw are coming from my old pc and they are pata(stone age !!!) so i`m stuck with them :P

All right, P35-DS3L should do then. It supports two IDE devices.

Thanks for the moral support :)

But his opticals are PATA, so he still has 4 SATA ports free even with the DS3L. My mistake, I should have asked about that first.
