I was wondering how much ram I would need to buy to turn off the windows virtual memory? And should I buy ECC or non registered memory? Would 8 gigs of dual channel memory be enough? Also,is it ago to have to sets of dual channel memory (4 x 2 gigs DDR3-1600mhz)?Sorry for the loaded question and thank you in advance.
Most desktop motherboards do NOT use ECC ram. It's mostly for servers. Also, the amount of ram depends on the programs you use. Some programs require a page file no matter how much ram you have. With 8 gig, you should be able to get rid of the page file. You can run the resource monitor built into windows to see how much ram you are consuming.
