Hi,

I'm looking to get a sound card for Windows Vista that will support 5.1 audio because I have a 5.1 Logitech set. I've heard a lot of rumblings regarding Vista and Creative sound cards, so I'd just appreciate it if someone could point me to a card that will work well.

Thanks!

creative i believe has fixed the problems with their sound cards not working with vista, so you should have no problem going with them

Older card will not work still (Audigy2 included i believe) they havent even released drivers for them.

Your main options atm are Auzentech and Creative X-fi OR stick with onboard of course

The drivers referenced by insanelf are handicapped under Vista, without support for DTS, EAX, etc. Read the driver information on the Creative Site, think about what it says, and then reconsider the posting.

Well if the driver for the Audigy doesn't support DTS or EAX, then can you suggest a card that Vista will support properly?

Thanks.

I screwed up the above post, the card has good reviews, did an edit. Really is worth checking out

I am using an HT Claro omega in vista and it works flawlessly and sounds a lot better than my Soundblaster x-fi

It depends..... If you're willing to spend the cash: Auzentech Prelude 7.1 But at nearly $200, it ain't cheap. They wrote their own drivers, and yes - the latest have EAX (5.0) and DTS. Out of long experience with old/outdated drivers in the box, I skipped the supplied CD and went straight for the Website.

The sound??? Amazing. I threw out my old headset for a pair of Sennheiser headphones, and made the excuse that the house needed a better HT stereo... The old one mysteriously ended up in my little office...
