New hdd problem Tags: Hard Drives Computer Windows Vista Storage Last response: November 26, 2008 12:38 AM in Storage Share porsche664 November 24, 2008 10:36:29 PM My new WD6400AKS shows up in "My Computer" but is not recognized when trying to install Vista onto it, or trying to clone another HDD to it with ghost. I can move or copy files to it through explorer. Any suggestions on what the problem might be? I've tried different cables, different ports on the mobo, a full format and a quick format. Would need more computer info for that. chookman November 26, 2008 12:38:50 AM Sounds like you have SATA mode set to AHCI or RAID in the BIOS, you may need to install an additional driver... but i havent seen this with Vista before as most of them are included with the installer.
