Hi, im buying some stuff to build a new pc in 2 more weeks. I dont use it heavily for nothing in special, just want it to work really fast for normal usage and be good enough to manage some games every once in a while. I want to overclock it lightly, maybe to 3,2 Ghz. Im ordering stuff overseas, so its really important for them to be reliable, DOA means i probably lost my money :(.

This is what im thinking:

ZALMAN 9500A 92mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler - Retail

Thats it, would like to know if you think this would run ok and if you find any potential problem or easy upgrade.

Thank you,

Ignacio

For the cooler, I would change to the TRUE(Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme), you can up the hard drive to the WD640GB its faster a bit. Video card, cpu, mobo looks fine. For the mobo you can get that one or one of the new p45 chipset P5Q-E or P5Q-Deluxe. Do you already have the case and psu?

GA-P35-DS3L. Go WD 6400AAKS for a little more performance and storage. It's not much more either. Are you overclocking, if you are, a cheaper ACF7P will do fine unless you OC to 3.6, then you'll need the Zalman.

Hi guys, thanks for the fast responces.
I have my old pc case and psu, i think ill try with those and then see what happens. Can anyone explain me breifly how important is to have good cases or psu?
I thought about the TRUE but since i only want to OC lightly(3,2 or maybe just a bit more) i thought it could be a little overkill. Tell me what you think about it.

Thanks,

Ignacio

I say that most people that "just" want 3.0 or 3.2 end up going for more, because it's not all that hard to do, its free, and its fun!

It's best to be prepared.

Oh, get a OEM processor if you can find one!!!

A good case will be able to move air efficiently and quietly (hopefully) through it. If you are going to use an upper end HSF (read "large" ), make sure it will fit inside the case. Cheap PSU's may work fine. Or they may cause problems ranging from stability problems to a catastrophic failure that takes a motherboard with it. On the other hand, even a good quality, brand name PSU may be DOA.

Skip the Zalman. There's other things that work as well for less money - AC Freezer 7 Pro for example. Or work better for the same money - Xigmatek S1283.

I have a TRUE with an S-Flex SFF21 fan. Big, works well. I'm using it with an EP35-DS3P and a Q6600 OC'd to 3.6 GHz. The motherboard has enough clearance that I can orient it horizontally or vertically. I have mine oriented vertically to take advantage of the 20 cm fan in the top of my Antec 900 case.

However, if I were buying an HSF today, I'd look at the Xigmatek S1283.
