Loosing Hard Drive Space

Over the past few days I have been noticing that I am loosing hard drive space daily. Yesterday I had 438GB now I have 434 GB. I have a Samsung 750GB and a 120 GB WD. I am only loosing space in the 750GB one. When I select all my folder everything adds up to about 160 gb, are there hidden files that I can't see that are getting bigger. I know that indexing and system restore all take up space but 4 GB a day more? I don't think its a virus because AVG and S&D don't report anything.

I do play games and I know that "SAVE GAME" takes up space too but I deleted most of the old ones so its not that.
I have VISTA PREMIUM 32 BIT.

More about loosing hard drive space
  1. If you look through the VISTA section of this forum you'll find this is a common problem.
  2. A "feature" rather than a problem?
  3. was the problem serious or do you know of a fix?
  4. There have indeed been quite a few threads about this in the past. For example : http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/246792-14-hard-drive-space-vanishing.

Have a look through a few pages of the "Storage, "XP", and "Vista" forums and you should find the. No point in repeating the same posts here.
  5. thanks for the info.
  6. I love dead links
  7. Sorry - it was there this morning and I just copied and pasted the URL. It's a page or two into the XP forum. Unfortunately this &*^%$ forum software doesn't let me edit previous posts, so I can't change my original.
  8. No harm done. Fixed it. Just turn off system restore and turn it back on.
  9. I loosen up the space on my hard drives on a regular basis. A good defrag will usually loosen up a few GB....

    Oh... You mean 'lose'.
