I have built my last computer 5 years ago and then switched to laptops. Just today my main laptop died and because I'm just launching my own company I really need a decent computer to work on as soon as possible. Because I mostly work at home and have another Macbook when I want to travel I decided to go for a desktop again.

I saw how most people post a suggestion but I really have no idea of what's good right now. I stopped following hardware 4 years ago. Anyway I do know for what I will use my computer and some things that it should have. So please forgive me that I don't come up with a decent proposal.

My budget for the system and a good 19" monitor is 1000$

Usage: The most "intense" thing I plan to do is retouching pictures (no file is bigger than 100mb). So it doesn't have to be a crazy power rig for gaming or anything like that. I think it would be important to make it easy to upgrade in a year for example and a hard drive of 320 gb would be great. The 19" monitor should be somehow "eye friendly" if possible and if some technology that makes it more "eye friendly" exists because I work a lot online and have to sit in front of the computer for several hours every day. I don't want to overclock the system.

I'm also playing with the idea to get a second monitor as well. Do I have to consider buying a different gfx card because of that?

Any recommendations would be great! :)

Processor Intel Core 2 Duo E4550 $124.99
This is a dual core processor - very good for photo editing.

Motherboard ABIT IP35V $97.99
This is a P35 Motherboard - it should be very good and will work with all of the new Intel processors.

Video Card SAPPHIRE 100206L Radeon HD 2600PRO 256MB $74.99
This video card is a great sub-$100 card and should handle any video playback/photo editing quite well.

Memory Corsair 2GB ValueSelect DDR2-667 $38.99
2GB of RAM is good for running Vista.

Hard Drive Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB $79.99
This is a standard 7200RPM SATA3.0 hard drive - it's good.

Optical Drive Samsung SH-S203B $30.99
This is an OEM SATA DVD Burner - doesn't come with SATA cable or drivers...but the Motherboard will come with an extra SATA cable for it and you can download the drivers (if they're even needed).

This is Antec, pretty good power supply for what you're doing.

Display Hanns-G HW-191DPB Black 19" 5ms Widescreen DVI

This is a cheap but good monitor - most monitors have a setting for 'Web Viewing' (i.e. less brightness so the white backgrounds aren't too bright - good on your eyes)

This is a good version of Vista for a standard user.

I'm limited in supply here in Thailand though. I will also go for a dual monitor set up now. But that doesn't interfere with the budget for the computer. Do I need a better gfx card for dual monitors?

Here is the set up I can get hold off:

Intel
Core2 Duo E4500 2.20GHz , LGA775, 800 MHz, 2MB

Motherboard
Gigabyte "GA-P35-DS3R" Intel P35 Chipset Mainboard for Intel LGA 775 Retail

GFX Card:
SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON HD 3850 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E Dual DL-DVI/TVO
(i might go for a cheaper one because gaming is not my main thing anyway, but on the other hand I have no idea how important a good gfx card for a dual monitor set up is)

Harddrive
Western Digital 3200KS 320GB SATA II Transfer Rate 300MB/s 7200RPM Buffer 16MB

Monitor
2 x 19" widescreen

Ram:
Corsair XMS2 2GB (2x 1GB) DDR2 800 PC-6400 RAM w/ EPP Retail

UPS:
Syndome 500VA 400Watt - GOLD (NEW) ### 4000 THB
(we need a ups here in Thailand because of frequent power outs)

Case:
Centurion 5 CAC-T05 Medium Tower Case, 80mm front fan, 120mm rear fan, no power supply / White
(i also have no idea how important a good case is anyway)

Power supply:
no idea... does it have to match the ups? does it have to match my case? any advice would be great!
