Hello everyone,

Here's the preview of the new Intel quadcore Q9300 (Yorkfield, 45nm):
http://www.coolaler.com/forum/show [...] 22&page=3.
Not bad for a 2.5Ghz CPU that can be overclocked up to 3.7Ghz... Stay tuned for more.

i thought Intel announced that the introduction
of the Q9450 generation (45 nM) of chips would be delayed
a few months, except for the Extreme-labelled versions.

As far as I know the "annoucemnt" is not official. Quite a few etailers incl. ncix are still quoting 1-2 wk delivery. We'll know on Jan 20!

It is official that the quads are not coming in January, as far as i am aware. However the Dual Cores are out very soon and i think they're the chips to get to be honest. Quad Core can wait Until Nehalem in my opinion.

Looks like good news for the overclockers out that they pushed the fsb to almost 500 on that quad. We will have to wait for sites to review the retail chips and various mobos to see how far they can be pushed.

I wasn't aware that Intel had droped the bomb rihgt from HQ about the Yorkies. Oh well... Wolfies here I come! E8400 OCd to 3.4, 4GB RAM, 2x7200.11s, 8800GT, a TBA Seasonic-made PSU, Vista 64, and me doing my happy dance in just a couple of short weeks!

Can't remember where I read it, but "Yorkie" has been delayed to February or March 2008. Intel said it due to a "problem" with the chip itself, but most people believe it's just a cover story to delay the release because there is no real competition from AMD.

There is no such thing as a stupid question.
But there are stupid people.

Yes, that is the conventional wisdom and I'm 99% inclened to beleive it. But etailers like ncix still have the Yorkies listed for couple of week delivery and it just isnt an oversght. They've changed the price three times in as many weeks, so we cant say theyre aslep at the switch.

I am impressed to see they got the Q9300 so high. The Q9450 should do at least 200mhz better yet. But I am lead to believe, that it isn't too reliable to get a mobo that will be stable at 500mhz FSB?

Bah, I must stop dreaming about the Q9450.... I am getting a E8400 and that is final! Gamebro is done waiting lol =0
