well i dont know the max for your cpu but i know 87( if that is indeed the temp or your cpu) is really hot. like dangerously hot
i know for sure.but if you look closely at HWMonitor it actually went to 93C at one time.
but i up the FSB and prime it again now using different software. the temp have drop dramatically!any idea?faulty sensor or somem other problem? i have never OC old P4 before so i need some advice!
I see in your CPUID that your max Vcore is 4.08 volts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's way bad man I mean way bad. That's never supposed to happen. It could be your PSU not giving your components reliable, clean power.
I would download like Prime95 or Heavyload. I've used Heavyload and it works great. Heard a lot of good things about Prime95.

93 degrees!?! WHOA! That overclock will serve you better frying eggs than anything else! If those temps are true, your going to drastically reduce the life of that system.
The P4 architecture has been retired for a reason, C2D is way better at OC and staying cool. Your living dangerously if those are true temps.

In your second pic it says the max is 1.74 volts. That's a lot better. I don't know what raising the FSB did but you're pushing the CPU awfully far. I don't mean to sound overbearing but like Steven Bancroft said the 90nm CPU is outdated which means it's putting out a **** of a lot more heat than the newer 65 or 45nm CPUs.

well it default at 3Ghz and the vcore really is just jumping around 1.4-1.51V.the temp now never exceed 70.i guess its fine and allow me to carry on OC.i bought this CPU off Ebay for £30 inc delivery.and my motherboard doesnt allow voltage adjustment for anything.so i guess i cant really blow it if i got a good cooler on it.
so 3.4Ghz is just 14% OC it should ne fine no? i know 15% OC on the new Core 2 without volt increase is possible and will not effect life span. but this old thing.hmm.....gotta work it out.anyone know its spec?

Well, something is changing the Vcore voltage. In your 1st pick CPU-Z shows vcore = 1.616V Your second pick shows vcore = 1.376 That's why the temperature is so much higher in the first one.
actually the vcore in CPU-Z reports from 4.08V to 1.36V.the reading isnt accurate.i OCed it to 232x15=3.47Ghz. Priming it now.the temp doesnt exceed 67C.it all looks good.
but i guess it would mean competitive to a Core 2 @ 2Ghz maybe?
