Video files hang

Hello,

Mysystem hangswhen I playa video file stored on my system or on net. If i go to system restore option and do system restore, it plays without problem. The system restoreis mostly unsuccessful. Still the files play. If I do not do it, files hang. Pleasetwll me what to do.
