Greetings,

I want to build a system that could run high end games in high resolution. I have a 22" LG Flatron monitor and I want to use that. So, I'm probably going to have a minimum resolution of 1400x1000 or something like that(wide screen). Maybe if I like the high resolution, I want to run at 1600xsomething. I'm planning to play Vanguard, Age of Conan, maybe Warhammer Online, StarCraft2(when it comes out), Oblivion, and other games. What kind of system would I need to run these in decent FPS at high settings. I came up with a system that I think that would do good enough. I need help knowing the best brands and best offers and values.

Note that I can not buy a case online, since I live in the Middle East. My options of a case here are very limited, few brands of Thermal Tech, Mozart, GIGABYTE these are what I've found so far and I think I'm stuck with these.

Here's what I got:

1. 8800GT 512 EVGA (I got the 650mhz oc one, is this a good buy?) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130303

2. 2 X2 GB Corsair ram
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820145176
OR
2 x2 GB OCZ
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820227270
(which one is better?)

3. E6750 core 2 duo 2.66
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819115029
(I am NOT OCing it. Should I get the E6850?)

4. WD 7200rpm Hard Drive SATA
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6822136143

5. PSU (which brand is the best that would last a long time?)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Show [...] wer+Supply
I'm looking for a 500-700w

6. Xfi XtremeGamer
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6829102005

P.S: I have no budget limits

I would go with the OCZ memory, better timings.

I'd agree with going for the OCZ memory.

If you need help choosing the PSU... try the PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610 or even the Corsair 520 HX. Both are fantastic PSU's, but if you need something cheaper, just look around on the PSU tier list and choose from tier 2 or up. :)

What is your choice of motherboard and DVD-RW?

The link to the EVGA video card is not working, sorry.

Also, what case are you going to be using? Be sure to get yourself one with some good air flow.

Mobo I'd go with the Gigabyte P35-DS3R or DS3L depending on how many SATA ports you want (8 vs. 4 respectively).

The E6750 is fine, is the 6850 or Q6600 worth the extra $100? That's for you to decide. But for the games you've mentioned, your CPU doesn't seem like it will be a bottleneck.

I know for around $115 you can get a G.Skill 2x2GB memory kit with 4-4-4-12 timings on Newegg. I would suggest that kit, but the OCZ kit you've found is good as well. Especially since you're not OCing, tight timings don't matter as much.

The PSU you've found and the ones suggested are all good. I like my Seasonic personally, quiet, very efficient, and well worth the $160.

I just nabbed 2x1GB of Patriot Extreme 4-4-4-12 off newegg yesterday for $76.00 plus it has a $40.00 MIR, so really it's only $36.00. :D I win at maths.

Get it while you can. Two low-latency sticks of ram for the price of 1. :sol:

I would recommend you go with the 8800 GTS 512, if you don't have a budget and aren't interested in overclocking. The extra $80 (approx) will buy you 10% or so more out-of-the-box performance, and the card will exhaust its hot air instead of leaving it in the case. I agree with everyone about the OCZ memory. I also agree with the DS3R, but I'm a bit of a Gigabyte fanboy. Instead of the 6850, get the new QX9650, if money is truly no object. Just make sure you have an older chip to flash the BIOS, or make sure you buy one with an updated BIOS. Also, maybe you should consider a Raptor Hard Drive for your Windows Install, and a bigger hard drive for your data.

...I like you

I'd get the GTS as well and maybe even SLI it for high-rez gaming since 512mb is a limiting factor.

If budget isn't a factor, sure go for the GTS. But in my personal opinion, the small gain in performance over the GT + the slot cooler doesn't justify an additional $100.

That being said, I kinda wish my 8800GT was the GTS, mostly for the slot cooler though.

The Zalman VF900 fits the 8800GT perfectly and drops the temps almost 20 C. Make sure you have a well-ventilated case.

Thanks guys for the feedback.

Alright, how about this build

1. EVGA 8800 GTS 512mb
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130312

2. I will go with the OCZ ram as everyone suggested.

3. PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610 EPS12V EPS12V 610W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] ncer%2b610
OR
Corsair
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 2b520%2bHX

4. Processor E6750 or E6850
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819115029

Like I said, I can't buy a case online (too heavy, would cost a lot) so my options are very limited. What I found is something like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811233004

I still can't decide what motherboard I will get, I hope you guys can help me with this. I really think the Gigabyte P35 DS3L is a little bit too low-quality for my taste. But maybe am mistaken?

The DS3L isn't really low quality, it just has less "bells and whistles" than the other boards. If you want more - try the DS4. It's got tons of USB, SATA, and IEEE 1394 (Firewire) ports.

The E6850 is waaay overpriced, get the E6750 for $90 less and OC it. I'm running one on a DS3L at 3.2 on the stock fan with lowered voltage.

For $10 more you can get 2 WD2500KS 250GB drives. This will speed up your system considerably and give you some redundancy. Also known as JBOD (just a bunch of disks) RAID.

Exactly, you're basically paying $90 for a 400Mhz OC. :p
