This Q6600 which is a LGA 775 Socket and it's FSB is 1066MHz: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017

My motherboard is a Abit 945P IL9 Pro. It supports 1066MHz FSB and it's socket type is LGA 775: http://www.motherboards.org/reviews/motherboards/1680_2.html

The only conflicting thing is that almost anywhere I go that motherboard says it doesn't support Quad, yet it says it supports Duo.

So, the obvious, would this processor work with that motherboard? If it wouldn't, what would be the worst that could happen to the motherboard/processor? Is it possible for me to buy the processor and return it to let's say frys if it doesn't work? What is the best way to approach this?

Thanks for any help.

That board does not support quads or 1333 fsb, so Q6600 and Exx50 won't do. Some newegg reviewers got it to work with E4300, E6300 or E6400 (the E6400 is the best of these).

The E6400 is $200 at newegg, which is ridiculous. Keep in mind that board won't overclock.

I suggest getting a GA-P35-DS3L and a Q6600. It will cost you 375 instead of 200 but it would be much better IMO, especially with a bit of OCing.

Well, as to the recommendations, I agree, but I am using a Q6600 on a IP35-E at home right now, but before I got that, I was using an IL9Pro and the Q6600 worked flawlessly. No booting issues, ran stable, would run games like a dream, at the time it was paired with a x1900GT but it still ran good ;)

Oh and in response to getting the E6750, to my knowledge, you could run the 6750 on your current board, the IL9Pro, it will simply clock down the front side bus... I ran a 1066 bus core 2 on a 800mhz fsb MSI board and it worked fine. But other than that, cheers!

Yeah, I'm not really sure if you should test your luck with it, it could very well be bad for it. I ran with it for about a week and a half til i got my IP35-E. Good board, just uhh hate the double boot shiz

Is IP35-Pro compatible w/ Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C4DHX? Coz i'm planned to add the RAm module next month. I've search the link http://forum.abit-usa.com/showthread.php?t=124502, and the Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C4DHX doesn't appear in the compatible list. Im using Q6600.
