I have a hdd that went bad with some unreadable sectors and would not boot the OS... pulled the drive and installed a new hdd, got the OS installed and the computer up and running again... put the bad drive back in as a slave drive and upon turning the computer on, it took a very long time for the OS to launch... computer was running very sluggish as if the old drive (with the OS on it) was causing some kind of conflict on boot up... thought that by slaving this drive, this would not be possible... plan on downloading SpinRite v6 to attempt data recovery off of the bad drive... the new drive is a Western Digital that has jumper settings as Master and Master with Slave (I set jumpers to Master with Slave)... any ideas on what is going on with this sluggish launch of the operating system?

It could be that the OS is doing some sort of background checking on the bad disk. If I were you I'd move the data off it and dump it. Once a disk starts going bad it's only going to get worse.
