Topic says it all.
Just picked up a new Samsung 245bw. On boot, wouldn't find it, had to hit auto to let it recirculate the inputs and then it was found on digital.
Worked fine for about 3 minutes then my mouse locked up. Hard boot, about 10 minutes later I attempted to load a picture from a 10 megapixel camera, crash.
Boot today, attempt to check email, display goes into search mode for a signal - hard drive light solid.
Can't imagine why this could be happening. My power supply is ample enough to handle this.
435 watt antec II power supply, 7600gt xfx xxx edition card - running dual core 4200+ socket 939 amd, 2 gigs of memory and two hard drives in striping mode. Nothing else really connected drawing that many watts from my system other than optical drive, floppy, kb..mouse etc etc
Power supply meter shows ok on everything, no major fluctuations or issues.
It's supposed to like even 2560x1600, let alone 1920x1200...
If it's a faulty card, I'd replace it with an HD 3850 or better.
Sincraft, did you install any software recently? For example, did you get a CD with your new monitor and use it?
Try connecting the card to the monitor with a VGA cable instead of DVI. (No idea if this is an intelligent idea, you guys let me know. It can't hurt to try, I guess. )
Yea I used the software that came with the unit. Not sure how smart that was lol. I just liked the ability to change stuff quickly (game mode, browsing mode etc etc)
I gotta say, I'm liking my CRT a bit better right now. 19" wasn't that small and what I didn't realize is that my LCD is limited to 60 frames. That's causing tearing in the games I play which makes me have to use vsync...so not too happy about that. Should I be concerned about this?
I WAS getting on highest settings, 75 + fps in cod4...now I'm around 45-60 and , ...I dunno I notice the difference at 60 believe it or not. Even though there are many that would say the human eye can not detect over whatever it is..
Yea I could delete the software and/or try the vga cable if it continues, so far things are ok for now.
I'll come back for an answer. I just got the same monitor with money from Christmas gifts. It's working fine for me until now at least, altough I had to replace the first unit. That one worked for 4-5 hours until it just stop showing anything. When shut down it will show something for 1-2 seconds then get black again.
Anyway, I just purchased a BFG 8800GT OC2 to replace my Asus X1950Pro. I'll install it this coming week-end, when I'll find the necessary time ot boot under both XP and Vista64-bit to remove my Catalyst driver, remove my old card, install new one and boot under XP and Vista again to install both driver. That'll easily be 90 minutes I guess, if everything goes as planned without hiccup. Ouch! I guess I'll have to throw some money in the fountain at work .

yea this sucks. Not a big fan of AMD anymore. I run into a few snags with AMD boards, or AMD issues with dual core that were causing me system hiccups, freezes and crashes. I was OCCASIONALLY getting a system crash with BSOD and System Hardware something or another issue. Researched that and it seems like it could be related to a USB issue and amd boards/nforce ultra chipsets that has yet to be resolved as it seem segregated to my board (which at the time was higher rated a8n-e).
I actually just froze typing this message and had to come back and do it again. Just freezes.
In COD4 I crash in between maps.
When opening large pictures, crash.
I'm wondering if I have a memory issue on my video card possibly. I've run ram tests for 30+ hours before without issue.
Just dont know where to go from here. I have a ticket in with XFX so hopefully they have heard of something. It's frustrating. One thing for sure, I'll never go AMD. Friends of mine used to have AMDS and crashed ALL the time while I was rock solid 99.99999% of the time. As time passed I figured based on the reviews, that they resolved their stability issues but I guess I might have been wrong.
Hey, maybe it's my gpu or maybe it's just my config...but all my issues thus far have been amd related that took them many months to acknowledge and resolve.
At any rate, it's driving me insane because I just want to utilize this monitor.
Monitor looks pretty good. The reviews about the viewing angles are deep on. If you let it bother you, you will find it lame. If I move my head just 2 or 3 inches up or down, things up or down get dark. If I move my head 2 or 3 inches left or right, things get a yellowish tint. It's actually rather lame and will take some time to get used to. The 24" is almost TOO big. ALmost that is! If there were a 22" with better angles that resolved my problems I would be on it very quick.
Anyway - sorry for the novel. I've got nothing to do until I resolve this problem!
