I have OC'ed my Q6600 Rev G0 to 3.2Ghz 355x9 @1.35v
Speedfan reports various temps, which ones should I be concerned with? It shows CPU which under full load sits at around 51c & 39c when idle.
Core0-Core3 however range from 54c-60c, which are important?
Intel says max temp for this proc is 71c on it's website http://processorfinder.intel.com/d [...] Spec=SLACR Is this the case?
I'm trying to determine if my overclock settings are safe and by this I mean match my usage scenario.
Typically I will use a CPU for 18 months then I clock it back to stock and pass it on to family, are my temps harmful to the life of the proc?.
Additionally, I set the voltage to 1.35v in the bios which tests stable but Speedfan reports V-Core @1.26. As I raise V-core in the bios V-core in speedfan all so increases somewhat proportionally.
Why do they report different values?
I would use coretemp or realtemp to check core temps. Core temps as long as they are below 71 there are fine. I would use CPUz or Bios to see what voltage you are putting into the chip.
The temps core0 - core3 should line up with core temp. Realtemp will read 5c cooler
Get prime95 and load the system up(this also tests for stability so it should be run long). Once thats done post your max temps on core0-core3(up to 75 should still be safe, Intel's specs are for a temp at the heat spreader. the temps you are getting are much higher since they are from within the core)
So if prime 95 keeps the individual core temps below 70c is this a safe overclock ?
I havnt had any problems even at 3.4ghz but I don't wanna burn it out too quickly.

To be on the safe side do not exceed 60 under Primr95

Are you sure about that? How long do you run the test? You either do not run long enough or you have received a miracle chip to be stable at that voltage.
