I've had my computer for about three months and it has been fine, but now, whenever I open a video file, I see a second of the video then I get a BSOD.
The BSOD says:-
irql_not_less_or_equal

and in the Technical data section:-
0x0000000A (0x00000016 0x0000001c 0x00000000 0x805021de)

After the computer restarts, I checked the temps in the bios, and the cpu temp is up around 50 degrees. I don't know if this is the problem, but if it is, what should i do to fix it? Will I need a new CPU?

I am running Windows XP on
Asus Crossfire Motherboard
Nvidia 8800 GTS
2 gig ram
AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+

Thanks.

It sounds to me more like a driver issue. Have you installed the latest drivers for your 8800? Make sure you have the latest motherboard drivers too. That temp sounds a bit high for idle, but it certainly isn't dangerous.

This is the closest I found in Microsoft Support:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892000/en-us

This KB has to do with the "Pqv2i.sys" driver which part of the V2i Protector 2.0 program from Symantec. But it does have most of the technical error codes of what I looked at. Pretty specific, and unless you are running that program probably not "It". But certainly it points to a driver problem.

This is general on the irql message:
