There I was all set to buy a new processor when I ran into a bit of a quandary. I originally was set to buy the E6600. It was priced okay and was powerful enough for my needs. I went on pricegrabber, found the cheapest price on Amazon and went over there to check it out. While there I found the Intel E6750 for about $50 cheaper. This is where I'm confused. Is there some sort of flaw in the 6750 chip that makes it cheaper? It seems like the better chip but the prices are confusing me. Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on?

Like I have been saying on all previous post, wait for the e8400 to come out on the 20th, it cost $180 and is clocked at 3.0 GHz (dual-core). That's what I'm doing... oh also, it has 6 mb of cache.

There is no flaw.

Intel priced E6600s at X price when they were released. Retailers are still trying to sell off those CPUs at X price so they don't take a hit.

Intel priced their E6750s lower than the original tray price on the E6600. Retailers can sell these lower and still make a profit.

typo my fault. I ment the 8400. Is it pretty much definite that the E8400 will be out in 11 days?

The e8400 is not $180 anywhere. It's closer to $220.
