I'm upgrading my whole system within the next month and I realize my current Linksys PCI wireless network adapter does not support Vista/Windows 7 and I'll have to replace it.

My router is Linksys WRT54G http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6833124010

I use Time Warner Cable.

The interface doesn't matter, whatever is faster/best price. My new motherboard should have PCI-E, USB2.0, and regular PCI.

What's the new wireless "N" standard, and would I benefit from upgrading?

What's best?

Are you sure your network adapter is not supported in Vista/Windows 7 ???
Most manufacturers released drivers for Vista/Windows 7.

An internal PCI adapter such as this should be a good choice for wireless "G" speeds.

The "N" wireless devices can operate at a faster speed than the "B / G".
To benefit from to the newer "N" standard wire less, you will need to
replace both the router and adapter with "N" standard wireless devices.

An adapter such as this would allow you to run at "G" speeds for now.
And, then switch to "N" speeds when you upgrade to an "N" router in the future.

Yeah I checked Linksys and only a newer revision of the adapter I have works in Vista.

Is PCI definitely better than USB?

Also, the router is only like 10 feet away, although the signal goes through 2 walls (a hallway).

Thanks for the link. So basically, USB2.0 NICs are just as fast as PCI and PCI-e 2.0.
