I have just brought a nvidia 8800GT. Iv installed it and run the driver update. But windows say that the card is not getting enough power and slows it too a crawl. I think that its my antec quatto 850W because iv heard that theres problems with them running this card?
Iv checked tthe wiring a few times it aint that. Its really annoying.
In order to get any help, you need to post your system specifications that have to do with the problem. In this case, your PSU wattage. I have no idea how to check your PSU type from windows itself and i don't think its even possible, but there should be some label on it if you open the case.
make sure the pci-e 6pin is outputting correct voltages. i've you've never used it before...well, it shouldn't exactley be damaged, but weird things happen sometimes.
iv tried several ways of worig it up and none of the work. I have read on other forums that antec power supplies have this problem. Just wondering if anyone else have had simular problems?
Wow ... 850W is a monster. Mine is Antec 550W and I too have a 8800GT. I use the dedicated PCI powerline with no splitter and I don't seem to have any issue with power.
Im using a Thermaltake 500W PurePower PSU. Are you using Vista? Open up the latest Version of GPU-Z and see if you are running at 16x for PCI-E. There is a power option under vista that will decrease the bandwith to save power, I turned it on and it made my 88GT act funny so I turned it back off. Just set your power scheme to the high performance setting and try that.

I was actually talking about the wattage from the PCIE connector on your power supply. I think you can check this in speed fan but i am not sure, maybe your PCIE connector isn't feeding the 8800gt enough power? Antec is a good brand, but your power supply may be broken. My fault for not being clear, sorry .
