Are Yorkfield CPUs all completely compatible with the kentsfield/Core 2 Quad supporting mother boards? Or will I need to wait for mother boards to be released specifically designed to run compatible the new Core 2 Quad Yorkfields? Thanks in advance...

Depends is the best answer.

#1 - You will need a BIOS update at least.

#2 - Some boards will just not handle them well. THe 680i series is are the most questionable. At first it was yes with a BIOS update. Then it was can't happen. Now it looks like a Yes with BIOS.

Most Intel Chipsets seem to be a safer bet.

No. P965 (and probably a few others) chipsets can run Kentsfield, but not yorkfield. That's why I'm annoyed at Intel :kaola:

EDIT: Oops, forgot, yea some mobos will run it with BIOS updates. Asrock has been doing this for years, selling mobos with old chipsets that run current chips.
