Hey was just wondering weather or not its worth upgrading a pair of overclocked 7800GTX's (256MB) to maybey a single 8800GT. ive been thinking about it for a few months now. the current monitor i have is 1440x900 and im not going to change it until it breaks so i was ondering if its worth it right now or not. the prices seem quite decent now, cuz i know the next seris of cards from nvidia would cost way too much. any help apriciated.

Hello mate :)
8800GT is alot better than 2 7800GTX in SLI , if u really have problems in games , then i say go for a 8800GT

It really depends man. If you can play all your games perfect, you should be fine with it until the 9xxx and R700 cards come out. If you really want to play Crysis, go with the 8800GT, because your setup should be able to play everything else with pretty respectable FPS.

For performance reasons and if your using Win XP the answer should be no.

If for Dx 10 support then the jury is still out. I've completed the Crysis game with a current Dx 10 card, Ms. VISTA, @ 16 X 10 medium graphics on 939 X2 3800+ and played a few levels on Win XP with Radeon 800 GTO @ 800 X 600 on AM2 3600+ low graphic setting. The GTO played pretty smooth at this setting and I honestly didn't think it looked too shabby.

The destructible environment and 3D environment are the big draw cards here, but every gamers view of what's good is subjective. So if you're tempted by eye candy then see if you get to see it played on a well configured Dx 10 platform first and compare with yours, before retiring what is still pretty useful hardware. If you can wait I'm sure there is better to come.

If you can afford the 8800 GT card and you have VISTA then there won't be any need to return to your current SLi set-up as this card will handle all current games at 1400 X 900 with ease.

thanks for all the replys. and i think im just going to save my money for a while and upgrade later, cuz the cards i have now can play COD4 at max setting and also crysis at med (with res down), so thanks again people.
