Thought it might be useful to have a thread listing places in different countries where Wolfdales are either available or on preorder.

UK
Pre-order
http://www.meshcomputers.com/Default.aspx?PAGE=COMPONENTVIEWPAGE&USG=COMPONENT&ENT=COMPONENT&KEY=311683 Side note - Rude buggers and they also refuse to say when they will be available and how many they will have

US
You need only look on froogle.com to see lots of store where it's available for preorder. Not seen anywhere that actually has stock.

Germany
Don't understand German but there seem to be a few available to preorder.
http://geizhals.at/eu/a303349.html

Australia
Some stock and some on pre-order
http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&bid=6&id2=13
http://www.megaware.com.au/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=15_17&sort=2a&page=4
http://pcmaniacs.com.au/cpu-intel-775-c-21_29.html

Someone even has their ES 8400 on sale on Ebay if you're that desperate!

If you find any additional places in the UK to preorder or any other places worldwide where they're available to buy feel free to post :)

I would beg to differ with the statement that they are in stock in Australia or anywhere. It's still 11 days prior to the announced release date.

I wonder if they were ES chips or pre-release to journalists. I would be quite surprised if they were generally available to the retail public at this time.

It's all very interesting as it seems that it pays to have friends in the computer hardware channel. Thank you for the clarification. I appreciate it. However, I would not touch one of these CPUs that was listed on an auction site as it would be very difficult to ascertain if it had been cooked within an inch of its life.

Actually, Yes............
Much Like Books and similar.
They will be help by major distributors until close to the release date and then received by various retailers shortly after that.

Of course there will be chips that slip out the back door.
Theft/"Borrowing" or other gray areas.

I doubt any retailers are shipping these off to regular customers.
Too much of a threat of legal action by a number of parties.

Like that Johny Cash song about the guy who works on the GM asembly line and he sneaks out all the parts for a Cadilac over 20 years!

I dont know how the guys who work at Intel (are you reading Justin, JK and others) resist the temptation to have a 9775 just happen to fall into a pocket on the way out!

I admit I was impressed with the Xbitlabs article on the dual core Wolfdales. Their thermals and benchmarks make me want to wait for the 45nm Phenom's in May. AMD might not do as well, but the process shrink should make a difference.

Were I planning on a new dual core with a new motherboard, I think I'd go Wolfdale but I really want quad this spring (or summer, or fall, the way AMD's going). Plus, I already have those ASUS 690G boards that are good to go.

Wow. Can you not just accept that these places have stock in numbers and are dumb enough to actually sell before they should? I somehow doubt that these companies would be selling stolen stock. If anyone does come down on them they'll claim ignorance and promise to be a good boy in the future. Meanwhile they've been able to inflate the price of their product and make money from it.

It's quite common in places like Australia where it takes lots of time to ship stuff via ship for stock to land there earlier so on launch day there is stock and it's not still on a ship.

I'm prety sure that CPUs are shiped to DownUnda by air. Also the manufacterers have agrements with their distributors to make sure that stuff isnt released before the specefied dates.

Spoke to someone at overclockers.co.uk today and he said they should be on preorder tonight or early next week for release on the 21st. Mesh have taken their E8400 down and were saying earlier today that they would have stock mid Feb. A bunch of clueless twits if there ever was one!

I shall be pressing F5 lots on their site! :)

I wouldn't be surprised if many retailers started selling a few days early. Hopefully they start popping up for sale in the US this next week.

I don't think it's likely but this hints at there not being a delay for the Quads but I still this they will be delayed.

Jan. 20 for the Wolfies for sure. Preorder almost everywhere. Ncix Canada and USA have them. Go to a shopping engine and key in E8400 and a whole whack will come up.

I don't think the US site has them (ncixus.com). I just searched for e8400 and nothing came up. The Candian site has them, with US checkout option, but they don't accept American credit cards.

Do you think its necessary to pre-order? I found the E8400 online for $199 with $8 shipping, ETA Jan 21st. But I've never heard of PCs For Everyone, so I'm a little weary. I'd rather get it from someplace like Newegg, tigerdirect, ncixus, etc...
