After turning on the screen there is a 'fuel rod' (press f8 ...)
then the screen flashes 3 or 4 times before the wallpaper comes up.
Is it possible to avoid those flashes?

The video switch is occurring at that point. For some reason your display
drivers reset (flash) a few times before they finally "hook" and take
control. There's a chance that updated display drivers might help. However,
it this is a quirk particular to your hardware, you won't see any change
even with new drivers.
