My pc specs are as follows
P4 3GHZ
2GB Corsair ram
Intel D945gtp m/board

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card but i'm not sure what to go for. I'm looking up to the price range of the 8800GT's. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

unless your going to move the card to a new system you could spend less. your system will not get all you can get from that card.

clock the p4 to 3.8ghz then yes!

Assuming you have a decent PSU, than the 8800gt would be fine. Yes you could be limited by the CPU, but at least you could move the GPU over to a newer rig when you get there. What is your PSU?

Not sure but its not a problem to upgrade to a suitable psu. Main prob is wat card will work with this pc.

Any PCI-e card will do, but like I stated before, you can get the 8800gt. You might be limited by the CPU, but at least you won't be limited by the GPU. It's up to you. You could go and get a 3850 for ~$170, but I think since your already have the $ for a 8800gt, why not just get it. I don't know how much of a performance difference you'll get with the 3850 to 8800gt, but should be enough to consider. Just make sure you get a good PSU to run the 8800gt.
