Ok here is my question. I was originally planning on getting the GPU
Gigabyte 8800gt http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16814125081 but I have been thinking lately that a 3870 card might be a better idea since my motherboard supports crossfire and i could always put another 3870 in at a later time. I mainly just play WoW and am also considering trying Age of Conan and Warhammer when they come out. I could end up getting Crysis but that is not a real concern for me as i am on the fence for it.

Second question is should I throw in any old pci gpu for a few weeks while I get the cpu overclock stable (I am a newbie at overclocking and plan to take it slow) and wait for the dual core 3870's or the Saphire Atomic 3870? I have been looking around for a guestimate of a release date for these but have just found soon.

Thanks again for any advice

I would go for the 3870 purley because you have a crossfire board and it would be daft to loose the option of putting another in at a later date.
Also either card will destroy WOW etc, so it may be worth thinking about getting a 3850 instead, cheaper, scales well in crossfire, reported to oc well and will also handle WOW etc with ease.
I havent done it myself but the Intel chips are said to be laughably easy to overclock so i wouldnt worry about it besides you cant really bench it properly unless you have the right card in it .
