External monitor on acer laptop

Hello,

I have a CRT attached to a Acer laptop (the LCD screen went south). Windows boots into safe mode no problem. When I try booting into Vista, the starting Windows screen with progress bar comes up, then the screen goes out, no signal. What can be done.

If you can re-install the video driver in safe-mode try that. Also try to boot into last known good configuration.

If those don't work, you can try to re-install Vista. If that crashes once you update the drivers, your video card or some other motherboard component is bad. You can try to swap out RAM first to test things. I'm guessing it's the video card though, soon as Windows tries to use it fully, it's crashing.
