Opinions please

I was all decided that i was going to get an 8800GT and then i started reading all these stories about how they can be very hot and need aftermarket coolers etc etc

thing is that things can get a little toasty in my case anyways and having had a single slot cooler in there (7900gt) ive decided it would probably be better to go for a dual slot cooler with a vent.

so what are your opinons on this

I know that perfomance wise its not quite as good as the 8800GT but its certainly no slouch and i usually only game in 1280 anyways

All things considered i really think that this is the right card to get the IceQ coolers are very good as they exhaust the hot air out of the back of the case and are very quiet. As you said the card isnt quite the fastest thing out there but its not far off and when you take into account that you are only using 1280 res then you dont really need the fastest.
Its only my opinion as its a very personal preferance kind of thing but i think the ATI cards give a better picture quality also.
You wont be going wrong with this and im not a fanboy of anyones in fact untill this card came out i was putting a Nvidia card in my next system after having ATI in every other, purley down to performance but this is so near as makes no differance to me at the res stated.

Yeah that looks like a good version of the card. That blue cooler looks way better than the stock. Wish i had waited a little while and gotten two of these instead .

It'll be more than sufficiant to play on 1280. I've had to upgrade to 1920 because i'm wasting a pair CF'ed atm. You won't find it cheaper, Ocuk is the only place i buy things from nowadays and the delivery time is excellent.

well the atomic looks like overkill for me to be honest and i dread to think how much it will cost

ive had a look at the 3850 and as nice a card as it is i'd rather spend a little extra for that bit more performance, plus this card doesnt seem to have the vent that i think i need.
