Could I go further?

My Build:

Processor: Q6600 G0
Motherboard: GA-P35-DS3L
Memory: 2GB GeIL Ultra PC2-6400C4
CPU Cooler: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro

Right. I have the processor currently running at 3.00GHz (333x9) with the stock VID of 1.2125v. The temperatures in Prime95 at LOAD are in the mid 40s never exceeding 50. Is this good or bad? Also, is there room for more OC'ing? Keeping in mind I plan on using the processor for a good 3 years what temperatures should I not exceed?

Thanks,
Maroc. :hello:

I'm using CoreTemp mate. Oh and when you say I can do 3.4, would that be a safe overclock I can run 24/7 for 3 years +?

As long as you keep your core temp below 65C under load and keep your voltage under 1.5V, I would expect at least 3 years from the system.

You know, that's an amazing temperature you got with that kind of cooler. You sure you are doing the Prime95 small FFT test? That test will make your cpu real hot.

Oops, i wasn't using small FFT. I've tried it now and the core temps are now between 52 and 59 never exceeding 59 at load. With these kind of temps at 3GHz I'm wondering if it's safe to go further.

i dont know how your mobo or cpu will react to it. but you should always up notch by notch untill you pass small ffts prime for i would say 10 hours after i see so many failed after 8 hours.

Oh ok, I'll go for 3.4 then. I just don't know what to do when it comes to voltages.
So far, I haven't changed the voltages from my stock VID of 1.2125v which has got me to 3GHz.

Update: I've OC'ed further, now I'm running it @ 3.2GHz (400x8) STILL at stock voltages with no sign of trouble.

That's very high for stock voltage. How long did you test in prime95?

Like 2 hours without errors. But I still believe it's 100% stable as i kept my pc on over night downloading/folding.
