I traded a unworking laptop to some one for a Asus P5kC Motherboard that works. I am wanting to build a new computer using this mother board. I would like to use a E8400 processor on this and i am sure that the bios has not been updated to the newest one that supports this processor. My question is can i get this CPU and use it to update my bios on the motherboard or do i have to have a CPU that is already compatable with the motherboard??? Please help as i do not want to use old CPU as the newer ones are cheaper and have better features.

you should go to a friends house and borrow their CPU to do the bios update. The E8400 will likely not POST without a bios update. You can always try though, but make sure you have a backup CPU somewhere to update it with.
