Just had my Vista x64 system crash on Call-of-Duty 5 and then wouldn't recover so that I could shutdown. It just hung for over 15 minutes. I did a hard shut down then restarted fresh from last good configuration. System would hang on Windows boot screen with no HDD activity. Tried to boot into safe mode, same results. It freezes on CRCdrive.dll I think was the file. Sounds like some kind of file verification check.
Is there a tool that I can use that will allow me to do the intel RAID verify without having to get into windows??
Run from a DOS boot up or something.

What kind of RAID array?
Also before touching the HDD's etc, test all your hardware - memtest your system.
It was just a chkdsk that fixed it all. I thought that something actually happened to the RAID array. But it was a just some system files that needed to be fixed and re-allocated it seems. Nothing major.

Thanks for the input guys.
Blarrgggg! TEST THE HARDWARE
Faulty hardware -> Data Corruption (99% of the time)
Fixing the corruption without testing the hardware leaves you with the risk that next time you wont be so lucky!
I am Having the exact same problem. Trying to get to some type of command prompt to actually use the chkdsk comma d is proving quite dificult. This is an intel ich8r raid (I believe), so I can't just use a dos boot disk becaue it won't recognize the raid without drivers.
Anybody have any advice on how to get to a useable command prompt for this setup? Windows vista 32 bit.
P.s. I tried to use the vista repair disk option and it just hung for over 2 hours at the looking for problems dialouge box. In the raid bios screen it says that the raid is in verify mode and that there was a failure on drive 0.
Sorry for the crappy typing, I am in the bathroom on the toilet using my iPhone.
