Hey guys:

Well I got $100 for some computer parts.either Ram or Cooling
My choices are:

1) I sell the Crucial stuff I have to a friend for $30 and get 4 x 1 gigs of the Tracer stuff for $40 a piece.

OR

2) Get a TR120 and some case fans and controller for better cooling

Which do you think I should get between the two

I would like answers ASAP because the rebate is done at the end of tomorrow

What do you need better cooling for, do you think you can get more OC outa those parts? if you think you can get a much larger OC then go for cooling, otherwise get more memory.

My $0.2

I'd go with RAM myself. Your CPU is fast enough as it is, a higher overclock isn't going to make your comp that much faster. More memory will.

Just saw Shadow's post. Why don't you just get the RAM he suggested ($98 for 4GB), then sell your old RAM and get some better cooling with the money? Although he's right, 4GB is kind of overkill.

Of course, you could always save it for gas money ;). :pfff: :non:

1) dont drive yet :D

2) for the overclock I'm held back by my temps....(E2180). At 1.39xxx volts I hit 65+ which is as far I can go. Any higher goes over 70.

3) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148076 This is the Ram i want. 4 x 1 of this. I like the Leds for my system and its $80 all together.

Specs:
Antec 900
Gigabyte P35-DS3L
E2180 @ 3.0
2 Gigs Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800
Corsair 520HX
EVGA 8800GT SC (step-up to new 9800 if out in time)

OK, I'm going to have to go with better cooling.

Either that or this: what if you were to buy that Crucial RAM with the LEDs for $75, sell your old RAM for $30, and use (some of) the $55 left for a CPU cooler to get a better overclock/better temps with. Maybe get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134
for about $30, and then use the rebate money plus the remaining $25 to get more RAM/ better cooling if you think it's necessary. Just a thought......sorry if that didn't make sense btw :)

Oh, I almost forgot. Keep in mind that almost always you can't get more than one rebate per product on the same order. Just something to keep in mind......

Of course...that's how it always seems to go.....so you gonna go with the other RAM or just stick with more cooling?

The last thing I'd just thought of: what if you were to only add 1GB (probably 2x512MB as I assume you're running dual channel mode) to keep the cost down, and then also get some more cooling? Maybe these are too many ideas and I'm just confusing you........ :??:

No....im not confused yet.

For now I think I'll get some cooling. I got the regular ballistix (2x1), i just wanted the lights!!!!
Maybe in the future it will drop to $30 a pop and then it will be a deal....!!!! (maybe)

I'll get a TR120 and some fans....A little overkill for a E2180 but i intend on getting a quad eventually.
