  1. Use a PS2 keyboard instead of a USB keyboard
Use a USB keyboard instead of a PS2 keyboard
Try plugging USB keyboard into different USB slots, restart system
Use system restore to set the system back to the time before the problem started
    click start
    click all programs
    click accessories
    click system tools
    click system restore
check the box that says restore my computer to an earlier time, click next
select a bold date on the calender, a date before the problem started, click next
follow through with the restore directions
restart the computer after it finishes
if the system restore does not work, select an even earlier bold date on the calender and repeat the procedure
try this with at least four earlier dates before giving up and trying something else

If you get the keyboard re-installed, and then it un-installs itself again, use system restore as above, try shutting off microsoft automatic updates. Although some people may frown on this practice, others have found that it is the perfect solution to avoid little system changes and surprises.
I have shut my updates off for just that reason, and so have many other people.
