i received a Gigabyte P31 motherboard and installed it with problems.... but after installing XP Pro SP2, the sound doesnt work.

i have installed the drivers that came with the mobo.

i tried playing crysis and the sound works in game. but not anywhere else. when i look in "sound and audio devices" it says it doesnt detect any audio devices and when i start itunes it says it detects a problem with my sound configuration.

i manually went to the gigabyte drivers cd and looked for the install for the sound drivers. i ran it and at the end it said there was an error and it didnt work.

i downloaded new drivers and got an installation error at the end of them too.. what else can i try?

would a sound card eliminate the problem?

thanks

:)

If it's a Realtek, try downloading and installing their driver. This has fixed the problem when other people experienced the same thing
