More Information

Was wondering about peoples thoughts on a workstation motherboard. The workstation would primarily be used for graphic production (ie photoshop and illustrator). There are a lot of boards i would suspect that can handle this job easy enough. However there is some criteria i would like to meet:

Must use the Intel Chipset
Must support at least 1x PCI-E 16x
Must Support Core2Duo 65nm (45nm would be a plus)
Must support SATA, USB2.0 and 1394
Would prefer to use DDR2 as DDR3 is expensive right now!!!

Ive had great success with Intel boards in the past and currently am eyeballing the S975XBX2 and DX38BT. Unfortunately the x38 uses DDR3 but, if it would provide enough performance gain for my applications i may go that route. Unfortunately i have no idea what kind of performace to expect from these two boards. Do i really need a server/workstation class mobo for this type of work? Or would a desktop board be just as effective?

As a side note ill most likely be using a C2D E6850 or E8400.
Appreciate the advice in advance, thanks.
