I currently have a few years old Pasific Image ScanACE 1230S SCSI scanner, and wonder if it is possible to upgrade the hardware within it. My reasons are as follow: I am using the scanner with my Laptop connected to a Adaptec SlimSCSI 1480A. This card works excellent with other of my peripherals, however has always been a pain to install with this card. The drivers are propritary, and I am considdering moving slowly away from all the SCSI equipment for the Laptop.
What I therefore think of is to change the system to USB 2.0 and hopefully a more general and flexible driver supported by all systems.
Is this possible? - Of course, but is it an operation I can do, or what would I need in order to get this done? What would be the approximate cost?
Would it maybe also be possible to increase the speed of the scanning pictures?
