Quick Question on SATA

I just have a question about sata speed. I upgraded to a new motherboard and got a new sata 300 hard drive for it. My question is if I install my old hard drive which is a sata 150 on the other sata connector on the mb will my new HD speed be downgraded to 150 ? Or is each sata connector on the MB independent and my new HD will run at 300 and the old one at 150 ? If the latter then I will install my old one but if not I will leave it out.

It's the latter. Each port is independant.

Correct, but...the bus on hdd's right now is still less then 1.5 gb/s so either will be about the same
