SATA RAID-5 & Error-Checking

Guys.

Just asking if it's necessary to do Error-Checking & Defrag on Sata RAID 5 drives?
The RAID5 already does internal checking and rebuilding, so the error-checking and defrag tools might do more harm than good?? When I do the checking, it "looks" like it's working.

I did do a web-seach on this, but can't find anything or I don't know what keywords to use.

Using 4 SATA drives on a ICH-10R.

well.. if it isn't broke, dont fix it. but doing error checking and defragging on a regular basis doesn't hurt at all. I do defragging on a regular basis ( TBH its automatic because of my defragger)
