Hello,
I recently just ordered a new rigg including the Q9450 and X38 ATX Mobo. I have hopes of overclocking both but I am a complete newb when it comes to this kind of stuff. I know there is a huge guide on how to overclock but it is too long and hard to understand. I was hoping if someone could just give me brief instructions to do this correctly and overclock to the highest limit without breaking anything.
Thanks,

There is a guide in the overclocking thread, read that and familiar yourself with terms like fsb, vtt, etc.

^ yar, its by graysky, there are no shortcuts to overclocking as each CPU OC-ing potential is all different. if you want to learn to OC, u gotta take the time and read and understand the intricacies of it. feel free to post questions on forums, but its something you must do yourself when it comes down to it.

READ the guide, it helps :) alot.

read the comments below his guide also, some people pointed out some mistakes on the guide, and its crucial that you read to keep your system stable.

Ok but in my specific scenario with my BIOS shouldn't there be just like 8 or so settings to change. I just want to get it to 3.4 or 3.6 somehow.
