cpu cooler for e1240

i need a cpu cooler to OC the e2140 to 3ghz, what do you recommend? alos should i get the e2160 insead for £5 more. or should i even get a cooler?

I personally would get the E2160 for the extra multiplier

Either way you should be able to hit 3.0 on stock, you'll get in the 60s (dont go above 70). An AC Freezer 7 Pro will be good

There is pre-applied paste but better stuff like AC MX-2 will drop temps another good 5+ degrees

Stock Cooler is Fine.
No Need to upgrade to the E2180, the E2160 will hit the same speeds.
Multiplier is rarely an issues for the 200FSB CPUS.

If OCing to 3Ghz+ I recommend you get a good cooler like this one:

With a stock cooler at 3.0 @ 1.39xxx volts I hit about 65+-.....I'm getting a better cooler so i can hit higher

Not sure the exact temps you will get since I have not seen 3.0Ghz specced, but most of the reviews I have seen hitting 3.2 to 3.4Ghz use the stock cooler.

If you wanted to go beyond 3.0, you might consider an after market cooler, but 3.0 should not require any voltage increase and may even allow a voltage decrease.

Thats about right.......do not get the E2180.

It appears to be less capable in overclocking versus the E2160.
I'm very disappointed with mine and so are others
