When i first built my pc i bought a matched pair of 1GB sticks PC2-6400 (Kingston). They where being reported at 5300 for some reason.
I have now changed them for a matched pair of 2GB sticks (OCZ) PC2-6400 and the same thing happens.
If i try to force the bios to see them as 6400, it will say my Core 2 Quad 2.4GHZ is only 2.13Ghz. Does anyone know what settings to use, the ram is 5-5-5.
If i overclock my pc will work fine for a day or two then just suddenly not allow you to turn it on. when you eventually get it to POST it will say overclocking / overvoltage failed.
Also i cannot get windows XP Pro 32bit to recognise 4GB RAM, only 3.2GB, is there a way round this at all?
2 - Generally, 5-5-5-15 is the sweet spot for any speed under 1000mhz. Some ram can do better. Look at your kingston chips closely. If there's a D9 prefix, you're golden. They can be overclocked like mad.
I got a similar problem - my mobo sees my 1066 MHz Kinston Rams as 800 MHz, I think (PC2-6400):
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=319846 has the ram dealer fooled me, or do i need to do some settings for the rams to be "real" 1066 MHz'ers??
