So I recently discovered that the evga 8800gts is $200 on newegg. That is aprox. $80 cheaper than the 8800gt. According to Toms VGA guide, it is only 8800gts 12 fps slower than the 8800gt. Is it worth it? thanks for the help.

The 320MB version right?

That's difficult to say. It really depends on what resolution you play on. If you play on a resolution greater than 1280x1024, no it wouldn't be worth it.

yes 320. old version. I have a 22" that I play with larger than 1280x1024 in most games.

As shoota indicated, the GT is a better deal.

It does cost more, but its performance increase is much greater than its cost increase.

If you want to use it for quite a while (2+ years) I would recommend going with the 8800GT. The extra memory (512 vs 320) will probably be important in future games and is even effecting performance in some current games. If you just want it to last a year or so and plan to game at around 1280x1024, it should suit you well.
