Hello

Earlier today I just bought a Galaxy GeForce 8800GT 600MHZ 512MB 1.8GHZ on the internet. I had a hard time finding the enough research on the item, but a benchmark tests says that its a fairly solid video card. It was going for $200 so I bought it thinking it was a good deal.

Although, I recently found out that the stock fan was not good enough. Apparently when the video card runs under full load it overheats and crashes in a matter of minutes.

So I was wondering if anybody was having problems with the Galaxy GeForce 8800GT 600MHZ 512MB 1.8GHZ?

If there is a cooling problem, does anybody have good suggestions for a replacement cooling fan?

ur problem under full load is. the fan speed will stay 25-29%. so u have two solutions

1-after market cooler.

2-use rivatuner and just adjust the fan speed to higher.
my fan works always at 45% i get 50c idle. while at load it runs at 75% n maintain 70c

Adding to the list:

3- Update the video BIOS with one that will change the fan speed based on temp.

^ To further elaborate, EVGA has an 8800GT BIOS update on their website for this very issue. Check to see if Galaxy has one too.

damnit, I was talking to a dude on XFX who was sending me all wierd updates to deal with my graphics card overheating issue.

But never did he send me a bios update, now that's low. I guess I was talking to a newly hired intern or something. :D

The link above will provide you BIOS update for XFX 8800GT. The update will change the fan default setting from 30% to much higher (35-45%) to overcome your heating 8800GT issues.

But I found out it not much of help since I've tried to increase it to 100% by using RivaTuner and now I've replaced it with TT DuOrb and works just GREAT, reducing my idle temp from 59C to 43C and full load from 75C to 53C.

You could mod the BIOS yourself to increase the fan speed without rivatuner.
