I've just ordered my new PC from NCIX and I discovered afterward that the stock fans (2x120mm and 1x80mm) that come with my case (Coolermaster CM690) might be a little bit noisier than I thought. Here's the rig I'm talking about :
I've heard only good things from these fans on many websites, what do you guys think ?
But my main concern is, will I be able to adjust the fan speed with a software such as speedfan or some other software ? (I don't know much about fans, as you can see). Or do I need to have fans with a temp sensor to be able to do that ?
Also, any opinions regarding the replacement of the side fan (80mm) would be appreciated. Which good but silent 80mm fan would you choose from ncix ??
Yes, I think you can adjust the fan speeds somewhat with bios or speedfan since the Yate Loon fans have the 3rd yellow wire which controls speed. Plus them in the mobo.
Personally, I'd pick up a $20 fan controller so that I can adjust the fan speeds anytime.
the mobo has only two header that can control fan speeds. one for CPU. other for extra one. so what im saying is. u probably need a fan controller for that.

Hmmm my case came with only 120mm fans. Thats odd yours came with an 80mm. I would use 120mm fans also on the side. They work awesome for my setup. The side panel supports them so definitely use them.

Take a deep breath. And hold it. Don't jump in to fix a problem you might not actually have. Why not wait till you get the case and then test out for yourself if the CM 690 fans are actually too loud. The CM website says the case fans are rated @ 21dBA and thats really quite good. CM 690 website The Yate Loons you picked out are 24dBA. No where does it say that case comes with an 80mm fan. The only 80mm fan mount the CM 690 has is on the back side of the motherboard tray under where the CPU will be on the motherboard - and that only takes an especially thin 80mm fan.
And finally those Yate Loon fans @ $9.99CAD are also available from Direct Canada for $5.62 OK, you can let your breath out now.

Your case has LOTS of fan options including spaces for 140mm fans (1x side panel and 2x top of case). It should arrive out of the box with 3x 120mm fans, 1 front, 1 rear and 1 side panel. Thats probably enough cooling to set up and test your system (including over clock testing) to measure the temps and figure out (1) if you need extra cooling and (2) where and what type of fans you want to keep your stuff cooled down, and still quiet.
Your GA-P35-DS3L has 4 x fan headers. Two are 4 pin and two are 3 pin. You have a 4 pin for your CPU heat sink fan and one other fan of your choice.

You guys are totally right, it comes with 3x120mm and not 2x120mm + 1x80mm (Even tought there's a 80mm fan slot on the side panel for the MB). (btw the case/PC is ordered but I haven't received it yet)
akhilles : Thanks for the thumbs up
WR2 : I've read on many forums that CM690 owners all think the stock fans s***k in this case (even if the case in itself is great). Not only do 90% of the owners think they're noisy, it seems they don't push that much air either
That's why most of them change them for yate loons since they're more efficient.
Don't worry about the price, I asked for a pricematch when I added the fans to my order, I did my homework and I knew they were cheaper on directcanada
Concerning the fan controller, I think I'll wait until I have the PC just to see how loud it is with all the fans at full speed. If it's too loud I might buy one, I'll see.
I just hope my modifications on my order will be processed before they build/ship my PC.
I ordered 7 of those fans !! Better have more than not enough
