Transfered lite-on dvd drive from compaq to dell?doesn't work

i just reinstalled my dvd burner into my dell professional edition. it already had the E drive, which is a cd burner and the F drive was the empty spot which the lite-on went.
it doesn't show up as anything , not even the F letter when i click on my computer. i put a disc in to see if it would pick it up, nothing. i'm so mad, this sucks, and i'm so stupid when it comes to trouble shoooting. can somone help?PLEASE elaborate fopr me!i dont know if the graphics card or what. i got this computer from an auction and it is in good conditin and i didn't harm the lite-on drive when it was transferred. i thought maybe it was the software but why doesn't the F drive path thingy show up?

Your GPU has nothing to do with it, Ok lets try some easy fixes first I am guessing you are using IDE so make sure your jumpers are set correctly to
your cable ie the master on the first ied cable slot. then if that does not work try it with only the dvd burner.
