You should be able to overclock a Q9550 to higher than 3.0ghz if you want. It is capable of reaching as high as 3.6ghz (9x400) without too much trouble. Be sure to get a better heatsink than the stock Intel one if you do any overclocking, however.
Edit: my mistake, as Computronix pointed out, the Q9559 has a 8.5 multiplier, which with a 400FSB would give 3.4ghz speed. A 3.6ghz speed would require a 423 FSB

Alright, cool thanks its not that I don't know how to overclock even though I am still a noob at it . It was just I wanted to make sure before I buy the processor that I could overclock it. I mean why spend 1500 dollars when you can put some afford and overclock your way to that . Someone might say well QX9770 is like a Ferrari and Q9550 is a supra. But hey isn't that the fun driving ur fav. car beating the **** out of a big fancy car .

gotrice, I'm sorry to pop your bubble, but the Q9550 has an 8.5 multiplier, and the P5W DH Deluxe, with it's 975X chipset, is a poor FSB overclocker. Most boards, even at maximum northbridge voltage, struggle to reach 420 Mhz FSB on a Dual Core, and Quad Core performance can barely reach 390 Mhz FSB.
As Lupi has suggested, you should be able to run a Q9450, but with an 8 multiplier, you might reach a stable 388 Mhz FSB at best for 3.1 Ghz, so if you want to reach a higher overclock, then you'll need to replace your motherboard. Sorry.

Yes, but if you see 8.5X353 is 3.0GHz.... and the default it comes at is 8.5X334 I think, I should be able to manage to get it to 3.0GHz with no problem and plus I don't intent to go over 3.0GHz. But if I get Q9450 and with using this motherboard if i can hit 3.0GHz I'll be happy since its like about 200 dollars cheaper. Well thats what I did with my currently E6600. I got it to 3.0GHz at 1.3v vcore. I don't know lol to me 3.0GHz is just a good spot.

Get the 9450 then, because either way, its up the the Mobo, yes? It has a x 8 Multiplier, so you'd need 375 FSB for 3.0.
From what I can tell, your Mobo can get a decent FSB, well over 400. So no problems there! Might as well go for 400 FSB anyways to get your 800 Mhz RAM runnin' in sync and at full power!
Product Name Xeon UP Quad-core X3350 2.66GHz Processor
Technical Information
Cache Memory 128KB L1 (Instruction) - 12MB L2 (Advanced Smart)
128KB L1 (Data)
Clock Speed 2.66GHz
Front Side Bus 1333MHz
Physical Characteristics
Form Factor 775-pin LGA Socket T
Another question I just thought of to ask since Q9450 is 1333 and my motherboard only supports 1066 does that mean that my motherboard's NB and SB volt will go up if i put my settings to auto.
That is good. But really, you haven't mentioned much about it, other than questions about if the q9xxx will over clock on the board.
If you were to mention what you have tried, and such, maybe that would help! But either way, I think the new technology processor makes the board opporate on a new set of voltages for some things, especially processor related!
Don't know how that will effect stuff. I haven't gotten my paws on any new tech chips yet.
Well, I haven't bought one yet I just want to make sure I am making the right choice before I get my hands on to it, you know what I mean. Like I just recently bought 9800GTX from newegg and right when I got it the price drop from 300 to 200 dollars, haha I was pissed off.
Thanks for the help I'll wait a month or two before purchasing this new processor, for now I think my E6600 @ 3.0GHz should be able to handle all the stuff at decent speed.
