Is there really a huge difference in real-world use between PCIe 1.x and PCIe 2.0? Sure, on paper the doubled bandwidth sounds great but does that result in an actual, noticeable difference in performance? I mean, the bandwidth was already pretty high with PCIe 1.x, is that extra 2.5 GB/s actually being used with the 2.0?

Thanks

I have read on this forum that pci-e 1.0 isnt using its full bandwith, so no no performance difference. I even heard the AGP isnt using its full bandwidth, the only difference is that the pci-2 will have more power available to it, so you wont have to plug up a pci-e cord in the back of it.

The difference depends on the card. At this point, it is important if you think you might be replacing your video card before you replace your PCIe 2.0 enabled mobo. Otherwise, current cards don't take advantage of the extra bandwidth on 2.0.
